ABOUT BADGER WORX
Mike Keller- Owner
Our founder has been fascinated with vintage cars and trucks since he was a child. His mom tells the story of the day she "lost" him in the mall during an indoor car show. It seems he was not lost at all, just asking a car owner about his car (at 4 years old!). Cars were even the reason he met his wife Vanessa. Mike was friends with her brother because of cars. Most dates even revolved around classic cars and 4x4s, driving them or fixing them. Mike's love of classic cars sparked his decision to dedicate his life to working with classic vehicles. Big Creek Restoration was born in 2002 with a shoe string budget, a small craftsman tool box, a Midwest work ethic and a dream to become the best classic car shop in the Midwest. Mike drove a 4x4 offroad and to work daily including a 71 Bronco. The Bronco was sold to finance the shop but Mike vowed one day it would be replaced. In 2017 he came across a 1972 Chevy Blazer, his friend had one back in the day and Mike always loved the Classic styling plus the added interior room of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer. A deal was struck and Mike started driving the Blazer daily. This set a path of modernizing the 72 for a more modern experience and eventually led to the creation of the Badger Worx branch of Big Creek Restoration's business. www.bigcreekrestoration.com
What is our Process?
AN AMERICAN CLASSIC BUILT WITH A MODERN APPROACH
The restoration phase starts with an original classic Chevrolet K5 Blazer produced from 1969 to 1972. We deconstruct the vehicle to a bare metal shell. When all the metal is in perfect condition and the body gaps are corrected we apply a PPG epoxy primer that envelopes the entire body inside and out to protect the vehicle for the next 50 years. With this foundation we then go to work on the body and paint. When the paint is done things change a bit at this point depending on the truck you ordered. The American Classic receives a restored chassis with improved springs and 4 wheel disk brakes. If you opt for the Badger or CST you have even more options. Dana axles, Off Road Design leaf spring with crossover steering, off road design 4 corner Fox-coil over shocks,or the new Roadster shop RS4 chassis. We rely on Genuine Chevrolet crate engines and transmissions with horse power options from 390 to 755. BF Goodrich Off-road tires and abundant wheel options round out the Chassis. The passenger compartment is customized to your taste, from a Classic stock look to a modern leather upholster. From a factory am/fm to touch screens with gps and modern custom gauges, it is all available to build your Blazer, your way. We use only top of the line components from the best brands in the industry on your build to achieve our goal......the best Blazers available in the marketplace. Whether you desire a stock restored Blazer or one packed with 2020 technology and performance Badger Worx will hand build the truck you desire.
